Dirt road surrounded by lush greenery, leading to a scenic view of a lake and distant hills under a cloudy sky. Tall trees frame the foreground, and rolling fields stretch towards the water.

Welcome to

the Huon Valley

The Huon Valley Council is the southernmost local government area in Australia. The main townships are Huonville, Franklin, Cygnet, Geeveston and Dover.
A cemetery with rows of graves adorned with colorful flower arrangements and plants. Green grass and several leafy trees are visible, along with buildings and a fence in the background.

Cemetery records
online

Huon and Dover Lawn cemeteries now have digital records with maps, photos and GPS navigation, making it easier to find loved ones and explore local history online.
A small, yellow medical center with a metal roof is surrounded by greenery. A sign reads Geeveston Medical Centre. Theres a bench outside, and trees fill the background under a cloudy sky. A paved path leads to the entrance.

Council backs
health reform

Huon Valley Council is leading national advocacy to improve rural health care, calling for Medicare access to a wider range of professionals. Read how this reform could benefit our community.
A group of young children, seated on the floor in a classroom, look toward the camera. A smiling boy in the foreground waves with his right hand. Several other children also have their hands raised.

Kids help
shape Cygnet

Over 300 local students shared ideas for the Cygnet Township Structure Plan, from bike tracks to nature walks. Their input will help guide the town’s future growth.
Bright yellow flowers with multiple petals and dark yellow centers are clustered among glossy, green leaves. Some buds are visible alongside the blooming flowers.
