Council is pleased to receive news that the Franklin RV site has reopened under management of the Palais Theatre Management Committee.

The Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) have obtained a planning permit and are undertaking works to open the site at Geeveston in the coming weeks.

Before COVID-19, Council had started a process to formalise RV sites on Council owned land, following a complaint upheld by the Tasmanian Economic Regulator.

We are committed to ensuring that the sites can operate in accordance with national competitive neutrality principles and in harmony with local commercial operators.

The Port Huon site however remains closed and may not re-open as it is unlikely that arrangements can be made to comply with the State Government requirements.

We will provide further updates as soon as we can.

There are a collection of private caravan and campsites located around the Huon Valley – find them on the Huon Valley tourism website!
