Welcome to

the Huon Valley

The Huon Valley Council is the southernmost local government area in Australia. The main townships are Huonville, Franklin, Cygnet, Geeveston and Dover.

A small rural town stretches across a green valley, surrounded by rolling hills and scattered trees under soft sunlight, with houses, open fields, and forested slopes visible in the landscape.

Huonville gets
$4.7M boost

Federal funding will help transform Huonville into a vibrant regional hub through five precinct developments, creating housing, jobs and economic opportunities for our growing community.

Rural living
feedback

Council seeks input on a new assessment tool for potential housing in Rural Living Zones. Join community sessions or complete the online survey by 31 August.
A vibrant picnic scene by a river features groups of people sitting on blankets, eating, and socializing. In the background, individuals are walking, biking, and enjoying the sunny day. Trees and the shimmering river enhance the scenic setting.

Survey results
session

Hear Community Views Survey findings at Huonville Town Hall on Sunday 17 August, 1-3pm. Discover what matters most to residents and how it will shape Council decisions.
