Dirt road surrounded by lush greenery, leading to a scenic view of a lake and distant hills under a cloudy sky. Tall trees frame the foreground, and rolling fields stretch towards the water.

Welcome to

the Huon Valley

The Huon Valley Council is the southernmost local government area in Australia. The main townships are Huonville, Franklin, Cygnet, Geeveston and Dover.

Draft dog
policy review

Council seeks feedback on new dog management rules covering responsible ownership, on/off-lead areas, and incident responses. Have your say by 17 August.
People are planting young trees on a grassy hillside. Some are bending down to work, while others stand. Saplings are protected by green plastic guards. Tall trees and blue sky are in the background.

Tree Day
plants 100

Families gathered in Geeveston to plant native trees, shrubs and groundcovers along the walking track. The community effort will restore habitat and enhance the area's natural beauty.
A smiling police officer and a woman stand outside on a paved path, with a modern building, trees, and bushes in the background. The officer wears a uniform and cap, while the woman wears glasses, a scarf, and a vest.

CCTV network
expanded

New and upgraded cameras are now protecting Huonville, Cygnet and Geeveston hotspots. The community safety upgrade responds to residents naming safety their top priority.
