The Huon Valley Community Awards celebrate the people making significant contributions to our community. The Community Awards incorporate the Volunteer Service Awards and are presented in May each year, during National Volunteer Week.
The Huon Valley Community Awards honour individuals and groups who demonstrate the following qualities:
- Support our community values, which include showing respect and kindness towards others, caring for our special place, and improving opportunities for others;
- Contribute their time and expertise to support community activities or programs in the Huon Valley; and
- Act as inspirational role models to others in the community.
2024 Community Award categories (nominees for the Community Awards must reside in the Huon Valley municipality)
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event or Community Group Initiative of the Year
- Sporting or Club Achievement of the Year
2024 Volunteer Service Award categories (includes nominees who reside outside the Huon Valley municipality)
- Volunteer Service Award (up to 5 years)
- Major Volunteer Service Award (5-10 years)
- Outstanding Volunteer Service Award (over 10 years)
- Lifetime Volunteer Service Award (over 20 years)
