Council is seeking feedback from the community on the Draft Nature Strip and Road Reserves Policy and Guidelines.

Background

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 28 August 2024, as part of the General Policy Review, it was recommended that the Draft Nature Strip and Road Reserves Policy, GOV-Asset 004 be open for community feedback for 4 weeks.

Council acknowledges that many property owners and occupiers within the Huon Valley municipal area like to manage vegetation within Council’s Road Reserves adjacent to their own property frontages to improve the amenity, or to avoid application of herbicides near their properties.

The draft policy provides clear guidance for property owners/occupiers – outlining their responsibilities for urban nature strips and Council’s responsibilities for maintaining Rural Road Reserves. The guidelines have been developed to help property owners and occupiers understand their maintenance responsibilities on urban nature strips and road reserves.

We have included the Draft Nature Strip & Road Reserves Policy, and the Draft Nature Strip & Road Reserves Guidelines to the document section of this page.
