In early 2020, the Huon Valley Council partnered with Volunteering Tasmania, Clarence City Council and Devonport Council on a state project, ‘Safeguarding Volunteering in Tasmania’.
The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive understanding of volunteering in Tasmania so that local councils and their communities can implement strategies to build their volunteer capacity. As part of the project, Volunteering Tasmania and Council will co-design a strategy as identified in Council’s Annual Plan 2015–2025 which will promote and support opportunities and community participation in the Huon Valley.
Council is committed to delivering a strategy with involvement from all community members and businesses that has community ownership and achievable actions which will increase participation in the Huon Valley.
Council and Volunteering Tasmania have been working with a Local Volunteer Network Group to develop a community-based strategy that supports a sustainable and thriving community in the Huon Valley.
We recently circulated a survey to hear from you about some of the issues and opportunities for the volunteering community. This information has been summarised into a number of focus areas with key actions/ideas. A survey is now open to hear your feedback on our findings.
