The entrance to Dover will be given an upgrade following a successful application to TasRECOVERY’s Economic and Community Recovery Grants program.
By providing an inviting point of entrance to the town, including a path linking to the Southgate Shopping Centre, the project will encourage visitation to the town and surrounding areas.
Although the land is privately owned, Huon Valley Council has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the land owner to deliver this exciting project.
Improvements will include:
- A new path
- Sheltered picnic table and rubbish bin
- Landscaping
- Two information booths for tourists, residents and regional businesses
The redevelopment will support economic recovery in the Far South, which was badly impacted during the early 2019 bushfires at the height of its peak season. It will also improve public amenity for the residents of Dover.
Construction will begin mid-March 2020 and is expected to be complete by the end of April.
This project is jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
The upgrade has been completed. Landscaping, a new path and table have been installed. in addition to this, two new noticeboards have been added which will provide visitors and the community information about Dover and the surrounds.
