Recent vandalism, including graffiti, property damage, and defacement of public assets has increased in Cygnet over the past few months. Repairing this damage is costly and affects the sense of amenity and security within the township.
Council is taking action to address this surge in vandalism and protect our community facilities.
What we’re doing:
• Working to repair damage quickly to keep facilities open where possible
• Partnering with Tasmania Police by providing relevant security footage to investigate and identify those responsible
• Reducing lighting at toilet facilities in an attempt to deter unsociable behaviour, while maintaining 24/7 access
• Implementing additional security measures
Some facilities may need to close temporarily for repairs. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience during this time.
How you can help:
• Report suspicious activity to Tasmania Police on 131 444
• Contact Council to report damage on 03 6264 0300
• Stay vigilant when using facilities
By working together, we can protect Burtons Reserve and keep it safe and accessible for everyone.
