On Thursday 25 March, Council was delighted to hold an Eating with Friends event at the Huon Valley Hub in celebration of Harmony Week 2021.
Local chef Lisa Duggan served up delicious Filipino dishes for community members to enjoy. Lisa was a celebrity master chef in the Philippines before she moved to the Huon Valley.
Lisa worked alongside chef Roy Leurs and students from the Huon Valley Trade Training Centre to prepare the food in the centre’s commercial kitchen.
Once delivered to the Hub, the food was dished up by students who provided a waiting service for the diners, including providing explanations of the dishes.
Everybody very much enjoyed the wonderfully presented foods and the presentations from Lisa and the students. The diners stayed around to chat with each other long after dessert was served.
The event was supported by the Huon Valley Trade Training Centre and the Calvary Tasmania Community Council.
What is Eating with Friends?
Council’s Eating with Friends program has a multicultural flair, with a focus on foods from around the world. It provides an opportunity for local people to get together, catch up with each other and meet new friends, while learning how to make delicious new dishes.
More Eating with Friends events are happening at the Huon Valley Hub during 2021, with the next one scheduled for May.
We’ll be advertising the event on our events page, Facebook and Instagram, eNews, and community noticeboards once the details are confirmed.
