The Southbridge Waste Transfer Station, operated by the Huon Valley Council, serves as a central facility for waste management and recycling in the Huonville area.

Services Offered:
  • General Waste Disposal: Accepts household and general waste materials.
  • Recycling Facilities: Provides designated areas for recycling materials such as cardboard, glass bottles, jars, aluminium cans, and certain plastics.
  • Green Waste Disposal: Accepts clean green waste, including grass clippings, prunings, leaves, plants, and branches up to 30 cm in diameter. Note: Declared environmental weeds are not accepted.
  • Scrap Metal Recycling: Accepts various metals, including steel, aluminium, and copper. Car bodies and small quantities of scrap metal can also be recycled.
  • Tyre Recycling: Accepts tyres up to super single truck size, provided they are free from excessive mud.
  • Oil Recycling: Motor oil can be recycled at special drop-off units.
  • Battery Disposal: Designated drop-off points are available for car and household batteries.
  • E-Waste Recycling: Accepts items such as computers, phones, tablets, cables, computer parts, and power tools. Note: Screens, televisions, keyboards, mice, printers, and other household appliances are not accepted.

  • Reuse Shop: Offers a variety of second-hand items, promoting the reuse of materials and reducing landfill.
