The people of the Huon Valley are vibrant, have many talents and are passionate about our culture and history. Council is dedicated to supporting our community to make our towns places that we all love, are unique, and a great place to live and work.
“We are asking you – individuals, groups and businesses – to share what you want for the future of Huonville, the gateway to our Valley and the place all our communities can share and take pride in,” said Huon Valley Council Mayor Bec Enders.
Local people are invited to the Huon Valley Hub to come in for a chat about how our community can help make Huonville even better in 2021, between the times of:
3pm–5pm Thursday 3 December
5pm–7pm Friday 4 December
“Creating great places is something that we want everyone to get involved in,” said Cr Enders. “We’ll be discussing this at the Hub Open Day and how you can get involved and help make Huonville even better in 2021.
“One of the ideas is to form a Town Team – a group of local residents and businesses together taking the lead to improve their place/streetscape.

“There are already 54 teams around Australia and Huonville would be the perfect location for the next team,” said Cr Enders. “Why Huonville? Community feedback collected to produce the Huonville/Ranelagh Masterplan had very strong support for the revitalisation of the Central Business Area of Huonville. The report tells us what is needed in the town, but it does not capture what that looks like for you or what feeling it creates for you.
“Most towns have a unique identity, and this is something that we know is needed for Huonville. It is equally as important that we hear from young people, so please encourage them and help them to have their say, no matter their age.
“We look forward to connecting other Huon Valley townships with the Town Teams movement too in 2021.”

The Town Team approach is for everyone. It gives you an opportunity to be creative and have some fun with ideas and to connect with teams in neighbouring areas. You can learn more about the Town Team Movement by visiting the website at www.townteammovement.com.
