The Huon Valley Hub in Huonville will soon become a place the community can book and use on their own, instead of being run and staffed by Council.

As part of this new approach, Council led programs held at the Hub will transition to new locations and become independently operated.

The Hub will continue to operate as usual for the month of July while NAIDOC week is celebrated.

Council will then be renovating the Hub in the month of August to use the rear section for office space for staff, and keep the front section available for community use as a bookable space.

Council will be focusing on engaging with communities across the valley and the Social Resilience team will be out in the community, working with people to build local capacity around social connections, resilience and wellbeing.

The Right Place program, currently run from the Hub, helping connect people to health and community services, will continue to be offered through the Council’s Customer Service area.

“As we change how the Huon Valley Hub space is used, we will continue to work with our regular Hub users to keep them updated on program transitions,” said Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle
