Huon Valley Council resolved at a Special Meeting last week to establish the Huon Valley Jobs Hub single authority (the Authority) and approve the proposed Rules of the Authority.

This follows the announcement in October last year that the Huon Valley Council would establish a local jobs hub in Huonville to connect job seekers with employers. The Tasmanian Government is supporting a Network of Jobs Hubs in regional areas across the State.

The Huon Valley Jobs Hub will provide a localised, flexible approach to delivering employment services to the community. It is designed to link local people with local jobs through providing job matching, coaching and referral services and will work with job seekers to address barriers to work, including skills and transport.

The Hub is expected to be up and running in mid-2022 and will provide a conduit for local employers seeking staff to access local job seekers and support industry to plan for future workforce demands and address shortages.

The Objectives and Goals of the HVJHA are to:

  • Increase employment
  • Increase workforce participation
  • Increase engagement with formal education and training

Council invites the community to review and comment on the Draft Rules for the Huon Valley Jobs Hub Single Authority.
