Candidates for the 2022 local government elections have been announced – with 505 individual candidates (183 women, 319 men and 3 other) standing for councillor in Tasmania.
There are 97 councillor candidates who are also standing for mayor and a further 136 councillor candidates are also standing for deputy mayor. There are 25 individual candidates standing for councillor in the Huon Valley. Seven councillor candidates are also standing for mayor and six are also standing for deputy mayor.

Postal ballot packs will be delivered to electors in the week commencing 3 October and the poll closes at 2pm Tuesday 25 October. The pack will include a short pitch from each candidate – who they are and what they stand for. You have about 3 weeks to return your vote. Voting in Tasmanian local government elections is compulsory.
