The Cygnet community is already enjoying the safety and convenience of the newly installed Mary Street wombat crossing.

The finishing touches such as additional signage, bollards and line marking will be completed over the next week.

The wombat crossing is a pedestrian zebra crossing on a raised platform.

It not only prioritises pedestrians but also helps reduce vehicle speeds—working in harmony with the recently lowered speed limit of 40km/h.

The raised platform means pedestrians can cross at the same level as the footpath, eliminating trip hazards and making it more accessible for those with reduced mobility.

The crossing is located in front of the Town Hall and in conveniently located between the two major car parks.

This exciting development is a huge win for the community, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone. So, next time you’re out and about in Cygnet, rest easy knowing the new wombat crossing is there to help keep you and our kids safe!
