Huon Valley Council has been successful in securing a $75,000 grant through the Australian Government’s Community Development Grants Programme to build a new tennis court on Tennis Court Road, Huonville.

The new tennis court will replace a surplus netball court which is currently not used, and will be fully accessible to the public for free casual usage.

Huon Valley Council Acting Mayor Sally Doyle said the court will offer another opportunity for people to engage in fun and healthy activity at the community’s sporting hub, the Huonville Recreation Ground.

“The tennis court will complement the other offerings at the Recreation Ground, which also has an oval, athletics track, skate park, half-sized basketball court, netball courts and playground,” said Cr Doyle. “We are excited to receive this grant as it allows us to offer another reason for families and young people to visit and enjoy this popular spot.”

This project is included in the Huonville Recreation Ground Master Plan.
