Huon Valley Council has moved to the Tasmanian Planning Scheme (TPS) and the PlanBuild Tasmania website has been updated to reflect this change.
“This is an opportunity for our residents to understand planning and building requirements related to their property before lodging an application with Council,” Mayor Sally Doyle said.
“Informing yourself before applying to Council could help improve your application and reduce Council processing times.”
To support the community with this new service, there is a self-service kiosk available at Council’s Customer Service office where staff are available to assist anyone needing help using or getting access to a computer.
PlanBuild Tasmania is an enquiry and application portal for planning, building, plumbing, public and environmental health information for property development in Tasmania.
This online service is free, quick and easy to use. By entering an address into the search box or clicking on a property on a map, a Property Report can be generated which includes maps, details of the planning zone, codes and other information that affect the selected property.
The Enquiry Service also includes easy to understand information on some key topics of interest to the community such as sheds, garages, carports, retaining walls, pools, spas, decks, solar panels, renovations, tiny homes, and granny flats as well as information on operating a business, including mobile and home-based food businesses and the rules that may apply.
Additionally, it has information explaining which stakeholders may need to be consulted with and whether a permit will be required to do the work.
