Council’s community waste working group, the Huon Resource Recovery Network, has partnered with Repair Café International Foundation to bring a repair café to the Huon.
The pilot Huon Repair Café will take place on Sunday 28 July 2024 from 10am-2pm at the Huon Valley Hub.
If you have a broken item you just can’t part with, don’t toss it. Give it a new life by bringing it to the repair café. Accepted items include clothing, accessories, wooden items the size of a chair or smaller, non-electronic toys and homewares, and even blunt knives and tools.
“This initiative is a great way to reduce waste and build community resilience,” says Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle.
“Repairing skills are an asset to our community and we are optimistic that this event can grow and encourage repairing throughout our community.”
The repair café aligns with Council’s strategic priorities to reduce and avoid waste before it ends up in landfill. Registrations are available via Eventbrite (https://HuonRepairCafe.eventbrite.com.au).
