Council is pleased to announce that civil works for the Southbridge Weighbridge Project are complete.
Works undertaken have included excavation and installation of new drainage and electrical services, construction of new sealed driveways, installation of the tollbooth and the new weighbridge.
Many local businesses and local staff have been used in this project and they include Duggans, Reardon Ford Electrical, Tasbulk and Bennett Scales. We thank them for their contribution along with the hard work and dedication shown by Council staff.
The new Point of Sale (POS) system is currently being installed and staff are undertaking training. This will include a number plate recognition camera at the weighbridge to improve the customer process. Dover and Cygnet Waste Transfer Stations are upgrading to the same POS now.
“We aim to have the new weighbridge and POS systems at all sites fully operational on 9 September 2024,” said Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle.
In the meantime, operations will continue as normal.
“Thank you to our Southbridge customers for your cooperation and patience during this transition period, and we look forward to celebrating the official opening soon.
